Pioneer of Monolithic Refractories
"Monolithic Refractory", developed in the U.S.A. at the beginning of the 20th century as an innovative alternative to firebricks, was first introduced in Japan by AGC Plibrico, leading to an epoch making revolution in the refractory field. As the pioneer of monolithic refractories, AGC Plibrico has since been engaged in the production, development of installation methods and designing of furnace walls for various facilities. AGC Plibrico enjoys a high reputation as a unique company with comprehensive technical capabilities, in a vast range of fields including key industries such as steel, cement, oil, chemical and power generation sectors.
Taking advantage of its know-how acquired in the refractory business over the years, AGC Plibrico has also been developing the environmental business, providing high performance incinerators and related equipments.

HOW PLIBRICO NAME CAME? |

Monolithic refractories come in powdery or clay-like form. Powdery refractories are mixed with water at the job site and poured into formwork or gunned with a gunning machine to construct refractory linings. Clay-like refractories are formed into furnace walls by compacting with a hammer or a pneumatic rammer. Monolithic refractories are characterized by much easier construction of complicated shape refractory linings than firebricks.

Refractories are used in various facilities and equipment to protect from fire and heat. It can be categorized broadly into shaped refractories (firebricks) and unshaped (monolithic) refractories. Sixty percent of the current refractory production is occupied by monolithic refractories in Japan.

The name PLIBRICO was taken from PLIABLE FIREBRICK COMPANY. The word PLIABLE, meaning adaptable or flexible, is the characteristic of our company's primary product, "monolithic refractories".
