To what extent can we design high quality furnace walls that meet the needs of the customer? What kind of design and construction is appropriate to maximize the full potential of a monolithic refractory?
In order to answer these questions, we utilize our data and know-how accumulated through our abundant experience with projects and propose a furnace wall of a construction that best suits to the situation at the worksite. In recent years, we have also been utilizing FEM (Finite Element Method) analysis. We intend to design the most suitable furnace wall that matches the situation concerning the customer’s equipment and the type of operation, for both new projects and repair work.

A person-in-charge with expert knowledge carries out examinations to determine whether or not the designed furnace wall satisfies customers.
To this end, many of our employees are qualified refractory inspectors who have acquired API 936 Refractory Practitioner certification from the American Petroleum Institute.

We have developed Plibrico’s unique construction methods and gunning machines such as the PLIJET AD construction method and the NEED GUN 400 machine. We have also developed new technologies including the PLIWATCHER water quantity control device for measuring the amount of added water, which was previously difficult to carry out during application, furnace wall support materials TACKO ANCHOR and TACHO ANCHOR AL for securely fixing the furnace lining, and a non-destructive inspection method for qualitatively evaluating the internal structure of the furnace wall.

In 1954, after our commencement of monolithic refractories production in Japan, and since then we have provided a wide variety of monolithic refractories to meet the needs of customers in an extensive range of fields. Our Product Management for the refractory are tested according to stringent standards, and also subjected to traceability tests. Using these carefully selected raw materials, we continue to manufacture products of stable quality to order. We have a setup that realizes an efficient production process and also a short delivery period, thus enabling us to quickly cope with urgent orders.

We combine raw materials used for monolithic refractories that are suitable for the type of kiln, equipment used, and the operating temperature, and develop high quality refractory products to meet a variety of needs. Because we carry out design and construction ourselves, we are well-acquainted with the conditions at the worksite, thus enabling us to develop products that have excellent workability and durability. Researchers continually visit the worksite to contact customers, for the purpose of realizing better quality products that meet the needs of the customers.

When developing a product, we carry out large-scale application tests by means of gunning or pumping, for example. We carry out each test in an environment that is as close as possible to the situation at the worksite in terms of scale and equipment for where application is to be carried out. In this way, we verify the workability and curing performance, and give the customer peace of mind.

Procure and delivery miscellaneous refractory materials from global resources

We procure various refractory materials used in monolithic refractory construction work, such as metal anchors, bricks and insulating materials, through our unique supply channel. By supplying most of the refractory materials through a single window, we significantly reduce the burden of our customers’ purchasing activity. We have our own logistics warehouse for these materials, enabling us to meet the flexible and urgent demands. Through the collaboration with our business partners in Asia, Europe and U.S., we ensure a stable supply of a highly competitive refractory materials with a well-balanced quality/price ratio.

We carry out onsite safety management globally, in compliance with the relevant safety manuals, from commencement to completion of construction work. Safety patrols are also carried out from time to time by the senior staff officers. We are also pursuing additional safety by such measures as the adoption of a full-harness safety belt as standard equipment, which we were one of the first to adopt in Japan. We have also acquired certification under the OHSAS Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series. In addition, we hold conferences concerning occupational health and safety of employees of affiliated companies, and promote safety measures in collaboration with the work subcontractors.

The Construction Planning Group and the Construction Safety and Quality Group support onsite supervisors. Also, our highly experienced employees patrol the worksite and give on-the-spot guidance concerning OJT to young onsite supervisors. Even in the event of an unforeseen situation, the staff of the Engineering Division and the Research Division will hurry to the worksite and resolve the situation. AGC Plibrico carries out high quality construction work utilizing its extensive experience and organizational strength. We hold supervisor training in which onsite supervisors come together and share their know-how.
